Safety Turtle SOS

What is the Safety Turtle SOS ?

Safety Turtle® SOS is a adult personal immersion alarm that can distinguish between immersion and heavy rain or splashing.

Can be used as:

  • Overboard Alarm.

  • Lifeguarding.

  • Lone working around water.

The Base Station

base stationThe Base Station is the component of the Safety Turtle wireless alert system which sounds the alarm. All Safety Turtle wireless systems require at least one Base Station. Safety Turtle sensors have no audible or visual outputs, so serve no useful function without a Base Station. There is no limit to the number of base station you have, as they will all alarm at the same time if there are in range of the sensor. This allows you to expand the area of alarm audibility or increase the total sensor coverage area or both.

The Wrist Band

The wrist band is a water sensing device  with the outer shell having four critically placed tiny holes on crowned surfaces. The difference between this and the Safety Turtle for children is that the internal battery is replaceable

There is no limitations in how many wrist bands go back to the same base station(s) but they must be the same colour. You can only mix Safety Turtle colours if you had two base stations corresponding to two different colour bands.

The base station knows what colour band it is assigned to by a miniature Turtle that plugs into the front of the base station. (See above) The Features of the Base Station and Safety Turtle wrist bands are as follows.

READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS IN ADDITION TO THE SAFETY TURTLE USER GUIDE

1.     Warning: SOS sensors are NOT intended for use on young children.

2.     Warning: Reliable alarming depends on unobstructed fill holes. See fig 1. Periodically check and clear the four fill holes.

3.     Warning: When used in sea water, SOS sensors should be worn on the upper torso so as to immerse then break the surface of the water. See fig. 3a.

4.     Warning: SOS wristbands do not float.

5.     SOS wristbands can be attached around wrist or more tightly to a life vest or rescue tube strap. See fig. 2 & fig. 3a and 3b.

6.     When completely immersed, the cavity of the SOS sensor immediately fills with water as illustrated in fig. 4. Alarming will occur when the cavity is about ½ full.

7.     Water must be drained from the SOS sensor as illustrated in Fig 3.0. The sensor will cease transmitting in a few seconds.

8.     There is no need to towel dry the SOS sensor.

9.     Warning: Do not attempt to separate the plastic shells of the SOS sensors. If alarming does not stop immediately, ensure the holes are clear, shake gently and let air dry.
